Enjoyment and Happiness

Check out this video of an exam simulation for part two of the speaking paper. You can either practice with a partner where one of you will be Candidate A and the other Candidate B, or you can practice on your own and practice being both candidates.

You will be shown two images and will be required to answer a question about the images. You will need to speak for around one minute. A countdown timer will appear when you are approaching one minute and you will hear the examiner say thank you, at which point you should stop talking. The examiner will then ask your partner a question related to the photos.

You should practice and repeat these questions many times until you can answer all the questions comfortably, confidently and fluently.

In this part of the test I’m going to give each of you two photographs.

I’d like you to talk about your photographs on your own for about one minute, and also to answer a question about your partner’s photographs.

Candidate A. It’s your turn first.

Here are your photographs.

They show people enjoying different situations.

I’d like you to compare the two photographs and say what the people are enjoying in these situations.

Thank you.

Candidate B. Do you enjoy hiking in the mountains?

Thank you.

Now, candidate B, here are your photographs.

They show people who are unhappy.

I’d like you to compare the photographs and say what the people are unhappy about in these situations.

Thank you

Candidate A, tell me about something you bought that you were unhappy about.

Thank you.
