Practice Question

When doing this practice question you should try by first giving your opinion, including reasons for you opinion, for each prompt. You should aim to spend around 2-3 minutes talking about all five prompts.

Interaction Practice: Audio One

In the following audio you will listen to a person (your partner) speak about one of the prompts of the question, then will bring you into the conversation. They may ask things like “Do you agree?”, “What do you think?”, “What’s your opinion this?” or something similar.

You need to practice continuing the conversation after “your partner” brings you into the conversation. Try where possible to reference what your partner has said to show your agreement, disagreement or similarities to another prompt they may ask you to talk about.

Remember: Your partner may not speak perfect English. They may use incorrect vocabulary or grammar so you should prepare from this. However, you should be able to understand what your partner is trying to say from the overall context even if they do make mistakes.

Interaction Practice: Audio Two

You will hear a different person talk about one of the prompts in the question, and bring you into the conversation like in the previous audio.

Remember: Your partner may not speak perfect English. They may use incorrect vocabulary or grammar so you should prepare from this. However, you should be able to understand what your partner is trying to say from the overall context even if they do make mistakes.

Interaction Practice: Audio Three

The examiner has now asked you and your partner the following question:

“What is the most effective way to lose weight?”

Remember: Your partner may not speak perfect English. They may use incorrect vocabulary or grammar so you should prepare from this. However, you should be able to understand what your partner is trying to say from the overall context even if they do make mistakes.

Audio One

I think the most common way is to go on a diet. I would say it is the easiest thing to implement into your lifestyle, because it doesn’t require any time, you just need be very motivated. What do you think?

Audio Two

I think running can be good like any exercise, but it really depends on the type of person you are and what you enjoy doing. If you like running then I think it’s a great way to lose weight, but if you are only doing it to lose weight and not because you enjoy it then you will probably give up after a while. What would you say about having a personal trainer?

Audio Three

I think the most effective way to lose weight is with a healthy balanced diet. If you are eating a good diet, then you will lose weight, but if you are just running or going to the gym and still eating bad food then it will still be difficult to lose weight. What would you say?
