More About Reading and Use of English Part 1

This part of the reading and use of English exam will give you a maximum of 11.5% towards your final reading and use of English score. It consists of a long piece of text with eight gaps, each representing a missing word or phrase. You will be given four different options to choose from for each gap and you have to choose which one of the four options is correct.

The options given for each gap will all belong to the same part of speech (e.g. nouns, adjectives, prepositions etc). The options will mostly have very similar meanings so you have to decide which option fits best in the gap. In order to do this you will need to understand the meaning and typical use of each option, as well as the different words that go together with each option (collocations).
